Award-Winning Music Store In The Pacific Northwest

This CD & DVD retailer's proprietary methods of doing business are based on the owner’s 25 years in the industry. There are over 400,000 CDs & DVDs that American consumers can potentially purchase, but very few of the 10,000+ US businesses that sell CDs & DVDs have access to them.  This business is one of the very few able to do so! This business has done this so well, that it has received the local paper’s Best Music Store Award each year since 1994!  It has achieved its high level of service by building its entire operation around client needs. Technology captures historical consumer data to aid in the store's buying practices. Technology is also used for systems that enable staff members to find music & movies for customers that other stores can’t.

Many people believe independent CD retailers are becoming obsolete due to digital music downloads. But according to the Recording Industry Association of America, digital downloaded music sales are less than 10% of physical music sales, and independent record stores have had a very stable market share over the past few years while big box retailers have experienced declines in customers buying music from them. The music industry is a stable environment for retailers who offer specialized services and selection.

This store is located in a newly renovated shopping center that houses large national retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, Michaels, Rite Aid, Ross, Ace Hardware, Winco, Blockbuster, Quiznos, Applebee’s, Radio Shack and Sleep Country USA, Petco, and Lane Bryant.  Most independent music & movies stores have a "mom & pop" feel. Not this store!  The 2,648 sq. ft. store is easily mistaken for a national chain with attractive lighting, colorful fixtures, theme carpet, professional signs, technology, and vast selection.  The sale includes all furniture, fixtures, and equipment - worth nearly $300,000 at current market price.

There are a variety of opportunities for a buyer to expand this business.  The most logical is to use this business' strong proprietary systems & branding and duplicate it in currently underserved nearby markets to create a chain with greater economies of scale.  Other opportunities include: create a franchise; develop a web-based E-commerce sales division; offer digital content sales and/or web-hosting for peer-to-peer trading; offer on-line movie rentals for local customers; and provide delivery service for rentals and sales.

There is a well-trained staff in-place that will continue with the business that can largely operate the business on their own. The seller will also provide reasonable transition training and support.

The business is located in Longview, Washington, a northwest town famous for its panoramic views, low cost living, abundance of recreational opportunities, and slower pace lifestyle, but within one hour of all that a bigger city has to offer (Portland, OR).

Internationally Branded Motorcycle Custom Painting & Manufacturing Company -

Marketed 100% Over The Internet

This business is a high-profit, custom motorcycle painting and parts manufacturing business that has leveraged the power of the internet to establish a rapidly rising international brand.  The business is marketed in 100 countries and 50 languages via the internet with a web page that gets over 365,000 website hits per month. It offers the following key benefits to a buyer: Low risk because no one customer accounts for more than 1.8% of overall revenue; Low risk due to geographically diverse clients - the business isn’t dependent on a local or regional economy; High profit margins as a result of a carefully developed brand; Strong past sales growth, with current unmet demand predicting continued strong growth; Best-In-Class Internet Marketing; Solid systems that ensure a positive customer experience; High-quality-of-life Eugene, Oregon location, but could be relocated or remotely managed, if desired; and Recently added products are gaining market awareness.

This business offers a branded product and has an international client base (only 2% of its customers are local and it has done business in 30+ countries).  It receives, on average, 170 web-based estimate requests per month for custom paint jobs, yet its goal is to limit its client base to 12-16 paint jobs per month.  Sales to international clients will likely continue to increase as foreigners increasingly buy American due to the devalued dollar. This 4-year-old branded business should experience high growth for years to come.

An acquirer who chooses to be more aggressive in following up on requests for estimates can likely achieve significant growth. Closing the sale on  just 5% more of the requests for estimates would likely result in a 50% increase in business.   Manufactured parts sales are on track to increase 58% from 2007 to 2008. Other products & services have recently been launched or are ready to be launched that will be discussed with qualified acquirers who submit a confidentiality agreement.

This business is operated from a well-maintained 4,800 sq ft facility.   There is storage and add-on potential behind the building.  Monthly rent is $1,500, and the Seller believes that the landlord would enter into a long-term lease if desired.  State-of-the-art equipment is utilized to enable the business to consistently produce the highest quality workmanship.

This business is highly systematized which will make it an easy one to learn.  It is anticipated that one of the owners will need to train a replacement for about a month, and the other owner will likely need two weeks to train and smoothly transfer accounting, bookkeeping, customer files, and other administrative duties to someone replacing her.
