You'd expect this to be the norm for a business broker. It should be the norm.
But . . . it isn't!
While the majority of Codiligent's clients are sellers, when we do represent buyers I am able to see the responsiveness of other brokers. I'm certain that most business sellers have no idea how unresponsive their broker is to buyer inquiries. Far too often after submitting a confidentiality agreement, days or even weeks can go by before receiving additional information despite follow-up calls and emails.
I can't speak to the reason this is so commonplace. Perhaps some business brokers try to take on too many clients; they might not have a good information management system; or they've prematurely advertised the business without having marketing materials fully prepared.
Codiligent takes pride in being responsive. We think clients should expect no less.
